Cycle of Hope Society and ALS Society of BC Celebrate Makenzi Harris as the Cycle of Hope Lemon “aid” Continuing Education Fund Recipient

Sechelt, British Columbia – The Cycle of Hope Society, founded by Cindy Lister and Robin Farrell in 2013, stands steadfast in its commitment to raising awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and supporting families affected by this challenging disease. As part of their ongoing efforts, the society established the Cycle of Hope Lemon “aid” Continuing Education Fund in collaboration with the ALS Society of British Columbia. This fund provides financial support to students in British Columbia with a parent affected by ALS, and this year, they proudly announce Makenzi Harris, a senior student at Chatelech Secondary School in Sechelt, as the recipient of this impactful scholarship.

Makenzi Harris, a distinguished student, has demonstrated exceptional leadership, academic prowess, and athletic prowess throughout her high school journey. As an active participant in her school’s leadership program, Makenzi is a mentor and role model, embodying the Cycle of Hope Society’s spirit of community engagement. She has excelled academically, consistently achieving honours with distinction while balancing a rigorous course load and actively contributing to school activities.

Beyond her academic achievements, Makenzi is a dedicated athlete, participating in various sports, including volleyball, basketball, badminton, and ultimate frisbee. Her commitment to excellence extends to the competitive dance arena, where she has garnered numerous accolades and even choreographed a dance in honour of her father, which the ALS Society of BC shared. Makenzi’s resilience and determination in the face of her father’s ALS diagnosis showcase her admirable character and unwavering commitment to both her family and her personal pursuits.

Makenzi’s story is not only one of academic and athletic excellence but also of compassion and dedication to positively impacting her community. The Cycle of Hope Society and ALS Society of BC congratulate Makenzi Harris on being this year’s recipient of the Cycle of Hope Lemon “aid” Continuing Education Fund. Her achievements, leadership, and determination serve as an inspiration to others facing adversity.
