The ALS Society of BC Awards Hazar Dilli the 2023 Cycle of Hope Lemon “aid” Education Fund

The ALS Society of BC is delighted to announce Hazar Dilli as the deserving recipient of the prestigious 2023 Cycle of Hope Lemon “aid” Education Fund. This fund, initiated in 2015 with a generous donation of $12,500.00 from the Cycle of Hope Society, aims to support the educational aspirations of students in British Columbia whose parents are living with or have succumbed to ALS.
Recognizing the profound impact of ALS on families both emotionally and financially, the Cycle of Hope Lemon “aid” Continuing Education Fund was established to provide vital financial assistance to students in the province. It aims to alleviate the financial burden faced by these students and help them pursue their educational goals.
Hazar Dilli, a recent graduate from Hugh McRoberts Secondary School in Richmond, British Columbia, has been chosen as this year’s recipient. Hazar will embark on his post-secondary education journey this September at Langara College, enrolling in the highly regarded two-year Associate Physics program. Upon completion, he aspires to transfer to either the University of British Columbia (UBC) or Simon Fraser University (SFU) to further his studies in mechanical engineering.
At the age of 12, Hazar’s life took an unexpected turn when his father was diagnosed with ALS in the fall of 2015. Sadly, after approximately two years, his father peacefully passed away on November 30th, 2017, at Richmond General Hospital. Inspired by his late father, who pursued education in Civil Engineering at the University of Halifax, Hazar aims to follow in his footsteps and make significant contributions to the field of Mechanical Engineering.
Thanks to the Cycle of Hope Lemon “aid” Continuing Education Fund, Hazar has been granted $2,000 to support his educational journey and help him pursue his dreams.
