Temporary Full Time Patient Services Coordinator (maternity leave)

Job Objectives:

  • To provide direct support to people living with, and affected by ALS.
  • To implement and execute the patient service programs of the Society.
  • To source additional local support services in communities throughout BC and the Yukon that could provide additional assistance to people affected with ALS.
  • Support the Patient Services Manager

Responsibilities:

  1. Contacts ALS patients by phone to offer personalized support.
  2. Builds relationships with families living with ALS
  3. Book transportation/accommodation for people living with ALS attending medical appointments
  4. Assists the Patient Services Manager in the coordination and implementation of;
    – Day of Caring for Caregivers (5 locations) – October dates
    – Camp Alohi Lani
    – Psychological Treatment Program
    – Organizing Mobile Clinics (province wide)
  5. Ensures that patient services of the Society are communicated to people living with ALS, their families and caregivers and to health care professionals
  6. Resource advocate for people living with ALS and their families
  7. Management of ALS patient database and records
    – Prepares ALS membership application form and package
    – Encodes patient data in Raiser’s Edge database
  8. Performs duties are per patient services policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare setting in the field of counseling or social work an asset
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Must possess excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must be an innovative thinker with strong abilities to problem solve
  • Must be proficient in Windows-based programs
  • Must have valid BC driver’s license (Class 5) and access to a vehicle (mileage will be compensated)
  • Positive and mature disposition
  • Excellent team player, creative, flexible and detail oriented
