Leaders of Tomorrow Bake a Difference

The ALS Society of BC extends our heartfelt thanks to brother and sister Shaan and Lara Sood, the Society’s 2021 recipients of the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ award, for their incredible dedication to supporting people living with ALS. Their 7th annual Christmas cookie fundraiser in loving memory of their grandmother, Susie Sandhu, raised an extraordinary $4,000!

Throughout November and December 2024, Shaan and Lara, with help from their Mom, tirelessly made delicious treats, including butterscotch bark, eggnog sugar cookies, and mint chocolate fudge. With 102 boxes of a dozen cookies sold, their efforts involved significant time and baking mastery.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to the incredible support of their family, friends, and colleagues in the Lower Mainland and Toronto. We are deeply grateful for their generosity and compassion. Shaan and Lara’s commitment to making a difference is truly inspiring. Their annual cookie sale has grown significantly over the years, from their initial fundraising efforts that earned over $420 in 2018. In 2022, they refined their fundraising approach by introducing a Google form for order placement and even offering shipping options across Canada.
