The ALS Society of British Columbia, in collaboration with the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations, are working to develop an action plan to ensure ALS support service programs and other emergency support will be in place in the case of a natural disaster. Today over 150 countries came together to share information and resources. As the Society’s plan develops, we will keep you informed.

Here are seven actions you and your family can take right now:

  1. Identify hazards.
  2. Check accessibility, do evacuation drills, practice walking routes that may be dark in bad weather.
  3. Build an emergency bag.
  4. Register with your local first responders to let them know a family member is living with ALS and your address.
  5. Participate in safety procedures.
  6. Identify where to assemble, and
  7. Do safe room settings.

Rest assured, we are here for you and your family.
