Ian Hayward

Ian Hayward is a lawyer who has been living and working in Vancouver since 1988. His practice has been exclusively in the field of civil litigation. Ian has been very involved in the legal community and is routinely invited to present at various continuing legal education conferences. In the past, he taught at the University British Columbia Allard School of Law for approximately a decade as an adjunct professor. Ian serves as the current chair of the Family Law Advocates Group which is an organization of senior family law practitioners who convene to discuss current developments in the law. Ian has volunteered his legal services for Battered Women’s Support Services and for the Pro Bono Society of British Columbia. Ian’s connection with the ALS community commenced with his brother, Geoff’s diagnosis in 2018. Ian was profoundly impressed by what the society was able to offer his brother on his journey with the disease and when Geoff passed in 2020, Ian was inspired to make himself available to the Society to assist in any way possible. Outside of work, Ian is very involved in hockey and served as the president of the Vancouver Thunderbirds Minor Hockey Association. Ian and his family also own a winery on one of the Gulf Islands.
