Canucks Fans Rally for ALS
The atmosphere was electric at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on March 23rd, 2024, as the Canucks clinched a thrilling victory against the Calgary Flames! However, the excitement wasn’t limited to the ice. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Canucks fans, The Canucks for Kids Fund 50/50 raffle surpassed all expectations, raising an astounding $314,625.00!
A portion of the prize pool from that home game will support ALS research in British Columbia through ALS Action Canada’s ALS Super Fund. This national initiative is dedicated to advancing research and ensuring accessible treatments and trials for all Canadians affected by ALS.
From the bottom of our hearts, the ALS Society of British Columbia extends a massive thank you to ALS Action Canada, the Vancouver Canucks, the Canucks for Kids Fund, and every single fan who participated! Your support brings us one step closer to a world free of ALS.
NHL Teams Unite for the ALS Super Fund
Canucks fans’ generosity is particularly inspiring in light of a groundbreaking movement across the Canadian National Hockey League (NHL). All seven Canadian teams are joining forces to support the ALS Super Fund, a powerful advocate for improved treatments and support for Canadians living with ALS.
This remarkable initiative is led by Mark Kirton, a former NHL player, ALS patient, and dedicated ALS Action Canada board member. Since his diagnosis in 2018, Mark has been a tireless advocate, rallying prominent athletes and media personalities and garnering the support of the entire Canadian NHL community.
